AKAR was founded by Kate Chen following a personal health reset that led her away from the demands of a fast-paced finance career. Seeking recovery, she spent time in the Tibetan Plateau, where she reconnected with nature and discovered the restorative power of plants.

There, she encountered wild-crafted seaberry oil and experienced its calming effect on her skin. That moment sparked a global search for rare, nutrient-rich botanicals and ultimately shaped AKAR’s philosophy.
